Specialized Iran Architecture Tour – One Month

This course is conducted to hold an educational architecture tour to facilitate the presence of tourists in historical Iranian buildings, areas, and dwellings and is conducted using a workshop format. These specialized tours familiarize foreign tourists with the geography of Iranian architecture.

Tour Features:

  • Visiting historical buildings, areas, and textures in cities and rural areas located in Isfahan, Yad, Fars, Kerman, Khuzestan, Kermanshah, and Kurdistan Provinces
  • The climate and geographical area of the specialized architecture tour: semi-arid regions, semi-mountainous regions, and semi-desert regions of Iran
  • Suitable time from November to February
  • Visiting 72 historical buildings, areas, and textures

Aim: This course is conducted to hold an educational architecture tour to facilitate the presence of tourists in historical Iranian buildings, areas, and dwellings and is conducted using a workshop format. At the end of the course, audiences are expected to reach a new understanding and knowledge regarding Iranian architecture.

Method: During conducting these tours, the subject of education and understanding eras of Iranian architecture is emphasized. On this basis, at the start of each course, tourists are provided with an illustrated booklet to familiarize them with historical buildings and areas visited during the tour and before visiting each province, the workshop on the history of architecture in that reason and principles governing its architecture is held before visiting historical buildings and areas along with architecture experts. In this course, at least two meetings with elite Iranian architects are held about the history of Iranian architecture.

These tours are held in Iranian geographical areas and the historical city of Isfahan is the starting and endpoint of these tours. In these tours, attempts are made to familiarize the tourists with historical buildings and areas in Iran as well as the social and cultural aspects of each region.

Participates: Maximum of 22 individuals (1tour leader, 1 service member, 2 architecture experts, 1 translator, 18 foreign tourists)

Tour includes:

  • Presenting full tour guide booklet (introducing the buildings visited during architecture workshop tour)
  • Visiting local areas
  • Holding educational workshops
  • Meetings with specialized architects in the field of Iranian architecture
  • Full illustration of the tour and presenting the pictures to tourists at the end of the program

Areas visited during One-Month tour:

Isfahan Province: Approximate number of visited areas and locations: 23 locations

  • City of Isfahan: Isfahan Jame’a Mosque, Nagsh-e-Jahan historical complex, Jolfa neighborhood, Vank church, historical bridges, Chehel Sotoun Palace, Chahar Bagh (duration: 4 days)
  • Kashan and Abyaneh: Fin Garden, Borujerdi House, rural areas, social textures and Neyasar Fire Temple (duration: 1.5 days)
  • Ardestan, Naein, and Zavareh: Ardestan Jame’a Mosque, Qanat of the Moon, the historical texture of city of Naein, Pirniya House (Desert Museum), several Ab Anbar Structures, Naein Bazaar, Fatemi House, Four-Balcony Jame’a Mosque, and Eight Paradises house of Zavareh (1.5 days)

Yazd Province: Approximate number of visited areas and locations: 19 locations

  • City of Yazd: Jame’a Mosque, Historical texture of Yazd, Davāzdah Imām (The Shrine of the Twelve Imams), Lari House, Water Museum located at Kolahdourha House, Amir Chakhmaq Complex, Yazd Fire Temple, Dolatabad Garden, Ancient Zoroastrian caves (2 days)
  • Arakan County: caravanserai Castle, Bathhouse, Ab Anbar, and historical texture of Kharanaq City, Ardekan bazaar bathhouse, Ardekan Jame’a Mosque, Ardekan Chahar Sough Bazaar (2 days);
  • Meybod County: Shah Abbas caravanserai of Meybod, Narin Fort, Robat caravanserai, Pigeon Tower (1 day);

Fars Province: Approximate number of visited areas and locations: 11 locations

  • City of Shiraz (capital of Fars province): Nasir al-Mulk Mosque, Vakil Bazaar, Vakil Mosque, Eram Garden, and Tomb of Hafez (2 days)
  • Marvdasht County: Persepolis, Pasargadae, Naqsh-e Rostam (1 day)
  • Firoozabad County: Dokhtar Castle and Palace of Ardashir Pāpakan
  • Kazeroon County: Historical areas of Kazeroon (1 day)
