The true narrative of the traditional Iranian Dastgah music comes from the instruments that are prevalent among the people and it is not limited to the musical culture of one region of this country.
These instruments have the auditory subtlety to perform the Radif songs of Iranian music. These instruments are also common in neighboring countries with slight differences. But as history suggests, their roots are Iranian.
This course will introduce the Dastgah music of Iran and will include the following points about each instrument:
History, the reason for naming and common name or names for instruments
Playing instrument, components, function and the main material used in the making of the instrument
Audio range (from high to low pitches)
Sensory features and the character of the instrument
The audio and technical features and performance limitations
Its role as solo player or part of a musical group and combination of various instruments
Its prevalence in neighboring countries or similar instruments in other countries
The most prominent masters and their composition method, and notable methods in their training
Listening and watching live performance examples in various methods
Classification of bowed instruments (string, percussion, and brass)
In addition to watching and listening to a group performance of a well-known Iranian Dastgah musical instruments
